Biography

Samuel was born in 1703. He is the son of John Burgess and Sarah Nickerson. He died at Yarmouth 26 Sep 1753.[1] [2]

He married, first, his first cousin, Elizabeth Burgess, daughter of Samuel & Elizabeth (____) Burgess, in Yarmouth on 10 Nov 1726.[3][4]

Children of Samuel & Elizabeth:[5]

  2. Thaddeus, b. 19 Mar 1728/9, d. 1767, m. int. Martha Lewis 08 Sep 1750
  3. Benjamin, b. 01 Nov 1732, d. 1806 at Vassalboro, ME, m. 22 Apr 1755 Rebecca Parker


Samuel married, secondly, in May 1733 at Yarmouth, Mary Taylor, probable daughter of Jacob & Rebecca (_____) Taylor, who was born 03 July 1701.[6]

"Samll Burg died September the 26th 1753" in Yarmouth.[7]

Samuel Burgess of Yarmouth left a will dated on 08 August 1753 in which he named his wife Mary Burgis, daughter Zerviah Burgis, grandchild Timothy Burgis, sons Thaddeus, Benjamin and Jonathan Burgis. His will was presented on 02 October 1753 and approved.[8]
