John Burgess was born about May 21, 1736 in Yarmouth, Barnstable, Province of Massachusetts Bay, son of John Burgess (1710–~1771) and Elisabeth Bacon (~1711–1771).

John married Sarah Rogers on Jan 20, 1757 in Harwich, Barnstable, MA. Their known children were:

  1. Hannah Burgess (1756– )
  2. Ebenezer Burgess (>1759– )
  3. John Burgess (1759–1843)
  4. Jonathan Burgess (1761– )
  5. Ezekiel Burgess (1763–~1839)
  6. Mary Burgess (1769–1809)

John died about Dec 2, 1827 in Belfast, Waldo, Maine, United States, aged about 91. He was buried in Matinicus Cemetery, Matinicus, Knox County, Maine.[1]
