Biography

Sparrell was born about February 1826[1] in Virginia to Keziah Burgess.[2] Sparrell's father is unknown. However, in the 1880 US Census his father's birth place is marked as Pennsylvania[3]. Other Federal US Census did not collect that information. The 1900 US Census is blank for both mother's and father's birth place[4].

He married Tabitha Jane Jones on January 2nd,1845 in Barren County, Kentucky[5]. He married Cyntha Clayton on November 14th, 1894 in Sebastian County, Arkansas[6].

In Census records Sparrell is found to be in the baking industry[7], a blacksmith[8] and a laborer[9]. Sparrell Burgess ... He passed away about 1902.[10] He died before July 10th, 1902, which is the date his widow applies for his military pension[11]. He lived in Barren, Kentucky, USA in 1840[12] and in 1850[13]. He lived in Spring Creek, Dent, Missouri, USA in 1870.[14] In 1880 and 1900 he is recorded as living in Mississippi, Sebastian County, Arkansas[15][16].

Regarding his name, Sparrel is listed as Spiral[17], Sparil[18], Sporel[19], Sparel[20] and Sparrell[21].
