Thomas Burgess was born about 1606 in England.

On 2 November 1630, he occupied two shares of land on Walsingham Bay in Hamilton Tribe, Bermuda, land which had originally been granted to John Dike.

He married Frances Jenour, a daughter of Anthony Jenour, Sr., circa 1633.

In 1634, he had one old cow at pasture on land owned by the Governor of Bermuda (Captain Roger Wood).

In 1663, Thomas Burgess owned 48 acres of land in Hamilton Tribe, Bermuda, formerly the property of Captain Thomas Covell (lot 14).

By 1665, he owned two shares of land at The Crawl in Hamilton Tribe, Bermuda, where he lived with his family in a two-story home with a parlor, a chimney, a hall and a storage area ("warehouse").

On 1 March 1664/65, he was chosen councillor for Hamilton Tribe, a position which he still occupied at the time of his death.

He died between the writing of the codicil to his will on 15 July 1665 and the probate of his will on 1 August 1665.
