Quite confused. There seems to be a lot of discrepancies past this point in Burgess heritage. Edward supposedly was born in England according to other sources including the census and DAR records. Father has notes saying that he was incorrectly merged and seems to be part of a different line of Burgesses. Last year I found a source that seems to have disappeared without a trace that detailed an entire different family than is listed here. Father is from Maryland but from what family oral history suggests, the Burgesses were always in Virginia until the mid 1800s. Clarification desperately needed.

The Edward born 1801 was born 1803, he is not son of this Edward, but is probably son of William John or Henry. See census. All of Edwards sons were of age in 1810. William, John and Henry had males under 10 in 1810. Garland and Edward the son did not. Disconnecting Edward Burgess-25, born 1803.
