Biography
Augustin Burghart was born in about 1803 in the Black Forest, Germany.
Augustin married Mary Bolton on 29 Oct 1834 in Bolton, Lancashire, England. One or both of them was Catholic, and Catholic weddings were not legally valid in England at the time, so they had two weddings - one at St Peter's Church in Bolton (Anglican) and the other at St Peter and St Paul's Church in Bolton (Catholic). Neither had been married before, and both were of the parish of Bolton. The witnesses at the Anglican ceremony were George Mann and James Liptrot; at the Catholic ceremony, George Mann and Ann Stephenson. [1] [2]
By June 6th 1841, they were living in Scotch Rowe, Eccleston; Augustin was a clock maker. [3]
By March 30th 1851, they were living in Greengate, Salford; Augustin was a master watch maker. They had an visitor named Sarah Milwood on the night of the census, who was a 58-year-old invalid, born in Salford. [4]
By April 7th 1861, they were living at 40 Greengate, Manchester. Augustin was a clock and watch maker. Sarah Milwood, now 66 and still an invalid, may have been living with them; she's with them on the night of the census, and described as a friend. [5]
Augustin died in about 1865 in Salford, aged 61. [6]
