This letter, from 1955, is so sad. I remember Mom talking about her cousin Wilmyth. This is Grandma Ollie J. Burk (Wilmyth's aunt) writing: "Thurs. Nite. Hope you are ok - guess we are as well as could be expected after what we have went thru with past 4 days. Wilmyth was very well until Mon 5:20 pm her and I had gone to Salem with Lottie Mon morn & we went to Dr in pm but she dident think she needed her shot so nveer took it but at 5:30 she wanted it but I couldent find the Dr till 10:30 he never came till about 12 by then she was very bad her heart was just worked down she got so tight hadent coughed but very little since you left I called Blanch at 12 Mon nite she was there at 9 am Tues (Blanche) thot she got a lot better after we came so did we but she just slumped down at 10 she never could lie down L(ottie), Dad, EO & I cared for her till Blanch came then she just sit & held her up so she died in her arms." "Blanch" is Martha Blanche Klingensmith Burk, Wilmyth's mother and wife of Wilmer Burk, Pappy's (Luther A. Burk) brother.
