Ella G. Burk was born about August 1892 in Illinois, the first child of Juliana Frederking and Henry Burk.

Her mother passed away a very short time after Ella's sister, Julie, was born. In 1900 Ella's father remarried. Ella lived with her father, while Julia lived with her grandfather Adolph Burk.
