Trying to find why Martin Burke moved over to England from Ireland, looking at marriage record of a Gulielmi Burke and Margin Cunill in Tuam, County Galway on 24th July 1812 witnesses Mattw Cunill and Jacobe Winston [Whew!] rough translation? It is just that the infamous William Burke [1792-1829] married a Margaret Coleman [1796-1866] around this time? Gulielmi is Latin for William. I found the baptisms of the three children later on although the father is named as 'John' Burke and Mary/Margaret Coleman?

That is interesting, if it was one Mary/Margaret Coleman it raises the question why her husband used the name William when he married and John for his children's baptisms.

But I have seen stranger things!

If this is the Martin Burk I'm thinking of his father was in the Donegal Militia, which was based in Tuam, County Galway, but after the split up of their parents, he would have moved back to where his mother Mary/Margaret Coleman was born in Ballina, County Mayo and Kilmoremoy, County Sligo.

Thank you Shaun for the information, my main interest here was the Cogdon family, and I know nothing of the Burkes. Martin's father was definitely named John (from his marriage record). If you want to do any editing or connect to potential parents please go ahead!

Looking for information on Martin Burk baptised 12th November 1818 Tuam, County Galway, son of John? Burk and Mary Coleman, two other children Mary Burk baptised in Tuam, County Galway in 1813, and Mary Burk baptised in 1821, both daughters of ? Burk and Mary Coleman [presumably the first Mary Burk died before the second Mary arrived in 1821. The marriage took place in 1812, in Tuam, County Galway, of Gulielmi Burk and Mary C?. In the baptisms of the three children the father is listed as John Burke.
