Biography

• According to her death certificate, of which her husband Lemon "Lemi" Bonaparte was the informant, she was the daughter of William Burke and Emily Kauhai. However, in her daughter Emily's delayed birth certificate application file, her first cousin, once removed Christina Dias claimed that Isabella's parents were Henry Makinney and Emily Sanford. Dias also noted that Burke was an assumed name and that Makinney was her correct maiden surname. Until more evidence is found to substantiate either of these claims, Burke will be used as her maiden name for this profile.
