Biography

Francis was born about 1844. She was the daughter of John Burke and Margaret Crowson. She passed away about 1922.[1]

Note: (N27). Frances Alberta (Burke) (Litz) was born in North Carolina in 1844. She married James H. Litz in Virginia in 1865 and they had 6 children. Frances died in Johnson County, Kentucky in 1922.

The Big Sandy News, Louisa, KY March 24, 1922: East Point (Too Late For Last Week). The body of Mrs. F. G. Litz, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Zola Ward at Oil Springs, Ky., was brought here for burial Monday. Mrs. Litz was 78 years of age and had been an invalid for more than a year. The funeral was preached by Rev. J. B. Wheeler of Ashland assisted by Rev. Green Allen of Beaver creek, after which the body was laid to rest by her husband. Among those who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Zola Ward, Oil Springs; Mrs. Mary Nash of Bluefield, W. Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Hop Preston, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Ward of Paintsville, Ky; James T. Litz and sons of Portsmouth, O.; W. A. Litz and children, Mr. and Mrs. McCoy, Mrs. J. Stapleton, Mrs. Susan Rice of Auxier.

Note that France's death certificate is misindexed as Frances Lutz. It states that her father was either Jno or Jms W. Burke, born in Ireland, and her mother was Margaret Clowson or something similar, hard to read, born in N.C.

I agree with the comment below that Burke-14031 and Burke-5061 are the same person, but the spelling variation needs to be resolved before a merge can be completed. This individual's first name was Frances with an "e", not Francis with an "i". The "e" spelling is used on her marriage record, death certificate, daughter's death certificate, on Find-A-Grave, and in letters and notes I've received from relatives over the years. The "i" spelling is found in at least two federal census records, but they are incorrect.
