Biography

Archie was born 10 Oct 1877 in Dell Prairie, Adams, Wisconsin. He was the son of Lyman C. Burk and Jennie S. Coats.[1]

In 1880 he was living in Montgomery Township, Le Sueur, Minnesota.[2] The household included Lyman C Burke age 23 born in Wisconsin, wife Jennie Burke age 22 born in New York, son Archie E Burke age 2 born in Wisconsin and Michael Moran age 30 born in Illinois. Lyman was a wood chopper. Michael was a wood chopper. Both Lyman and Jennie's parents were born in New York.

In 1900 he was living in Township 154, Range 10, Williams, North Dakota.[3] Archie was single, living in a hotel, and working as a table waiter.

Rhoda A Scranton and Archie E Burk were married 18 Aug 1901 in Williams, North Dakota.[4]

In 1905 he was living in Buffalo, Wright, Minnesota.[5] The household included Archie Burke age 27 born in Wisconsin, Rhoda Burke age 22 born in Minnesota, and Gladys I Burke age 3 born in North Dakota. Archie was a school teacher.

In 1910 he was living in Mead, Spokane, Washington.[6] The household included Archie E Burke age 32 born in Wisconsin, wife Rhoda Burke age 27 born in Minnesota, daughter Gladys I Burke age 8 born in Dakota, daughter Alice W Burke age 5 born in Minnesota, son Roger L Burke age 4 born in Dakota, and son Ronald Burke age 1 born in Washington. Archie was a mail carrier. Rhoda was the mother of 5 children, 4 living.

He registered for the World War I draft in Spokane, Washington.[7]

In 1920 he was living in Hillyard, Spokane, Washington.[8] The household included Archie Burke age 42 born in Wisconsin, wife Rhoda Burke age 37 born in Minnesota, daughter Gladys Burke age 17 born in North Dakota, daughter Vivian Burke age 14 born in Minnesota, son Roger Burke age 13 born in North Dakota, son Gilford Burke age 8 born in Washington, son Clinton Burke age 6 born in Washington, daughter Carol Burke age 5 born in Washington and boarder Paul Whitaker age 16 born in Missouri. Archie was a mail carrier for the post office. Gladys was a photographer in a photo studio.

In 1930 he was living in Spokane, Spokane, Washington.[9] The household included A E Burke age 52 born in Wisconsin, son Gilford Burke age 18 born in Washington, son Clinton Burke age 16 born in Washington, son Wallace Burke age 9 born in Washington, daughter Vivian Leach age 24 born in Minnesota, granddaughter Frances Leach age 6 born in Washington and granddaughter Jessie Leach age 3 born in Washington. Archie was widowed and working as a mail carrier. Vivian was divorced.

Archie E Burk and Hattie V Eastland were married 28 Nov 1930 in Spokane, Spokane, Washington.[10] It was the second marriage for both. Archie was widowed, the son of Lyman C Burk and Jennie Emmerson. Hattie was a widow, the daughter of Stephen N Pettibone and Harriet Hoffman.

He died 8 May 1936 in Spokane, Spokane, Washington.[11][12]
