Biography

Early Life

She is born to Levi Burkett and Nancy Bradley on March 3, 1884 in Alabama.
In 1900, she and her family live on a rented farm in Georgiana, Alabama. [1] 9 children live at home. Her mother says she has given birth to 11, but 2 have died.

Marriage and Family Life

On July 26, 1905, Hillary Mosley married Lola Burkett in Butler, Alabama. [2]
The couple quickly had their first three children, Lucille Mosley, Christeen Mosley, and Aubrey Mosley.
In 1910, the family lived in McKenzie in Butler, Alabama. Her mother-in-law, Penelope (Davis) Mosley, lives with them. While her son, Aubrey, is born in 1910, he isn't born until July and the census was taken in April. Therefore, Aubrey doesn't appear on this census. Her husband still farms, and her mother-in-law lives with them helping, him on the farm. She is pregnant and tends to the young children.[3]
In 1920, they owned a farm on Old Stage Road in Perdido and Lottie in Baldwin, Alabama. They had 6 children living with them. [4]
In 1930, the family rented a farm in Simpkinsville, Monroe, Alabama. His wife and all the children assisted on the farm. [5]
In 1940, they still rent a farm but live in Georgiana, Alabama. Her daughter, Christeen (Mosley) Reaves, has divorced and lives with them, along with her 11-old-son, Harvey Reaves Jr, as well as several of Christeen's siblings that were still living at home helping on the farm.[6]
Their marriage ends when she passes away on March 9, 1948 at the age of 64. They had 9 children together.

Death and Burial

She passed away on March 9, 1948 in Butler County, Alabama. [7]

Conflicts

Sisters Sarah (Burkett) Hughes, Lola and Lena (Burkett) Martin all have headstones that say they were born in different months of 1882, so the dates must be estimated. However, Lola's birthday on the 1900 census is 1884, so using that date for her. I will have to do some more research to infer the most accurate birthdays for Sara and Lena.
