OBITUARY: Memorial services for Kenneth Burkett, 77 of Austin, Texas will be held at a later date.

Kenneth Earl Burkett was born on January 21, 1944 in Highlands, Texas to Claude & Edrie (Patterson) Burkett. He was baptized at The First Baptist Church in Houston. He attended and graduated from the Texas School for the Deaf. Kenneth was united in marriage to Dinah Carr in 1982 in Houston. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a maintenance specialist. Kenneth was an avid reader, and he and his wife loved traveling the United States. He was very involved at New Life United Pentecostal Church in Austin and he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Kenneth passed away the afternoon of Thursday, July 8, 2021 in College Station.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dinah Burkett; parents, Claude & Edrie Burkett, and sister, Peggy Burkett.

Kenneth is survived by his siblings, C. Edward Burkett of New Ulm, Carol Burnett of Galena Park, Bertha Briggs and her husband, Ron of Ledbetter, Joe Burkett and his wife, Jill of Bryan, Russell Burkett of Lincoln, and Deana Wheeler and her husband, Andy of Lake Jackson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Memorials may be made to the Texas School for the Deaf, 1102 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704, or to a charity of one’s choice.
