Biography

Verena was born in 1665 in Sumiswald, Bern, Switzerland, the only known child of Jacob Burkhart and Barbara Graber . [The Schurch Family Association seems to say she was born in 1659.[1]

Verena was baptized on September 9, 1666, at the Reformed Church, Sumiswald, Bern, Switzerland.[2]

Casper Schürch was of Sumiswald when he married Verena Burkhart at Affoltern on January 12, 1688[2][3]. [This place seems unlikely since it was 56 miles east of Sumiswald and they both seems to be from Sumiswald.]

The problem is which Casper Schurch did she marry?
1. Caspar Schurch-25, b 1649; son of Jacob Schurch and Anna Mummenthaler
OR
2. Casper Guntilsberger Schurch-9, b 1657, son of Joseph Schurch and Elsbeth Guntilsberger.
The second man is closer to her age, but he also married Helene Myer, so it seems it might be Schurch-25 who married Verena[4].
Jacob[5] and Joseph[6] were brothers, sons of Grandfather Casper[7] Schurch (b1589), and they both has sons named Casper.

Caspar Guntilsberger Scherch had one known child, a daughter named Anna, who would marry a man named Johannes Wenger.
They may have also had a son, Joseph, b 1710

1693-95 Casper Schürch and his wife were called Anabaptists at the baptisms of their children in 1693 and 1695.[2]
They left Sumiswald sometime after 1695 and probably went to live in the Pfalz.

At some point, Caspar and Verena migrated to Pennsylvania
Verena died in 1701 or maybe 1760 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Burkhard-24 and Burkhart-697 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same woman. She married Caspar Schurch but there is some question which Caspar Schurch she married.
