Biography

Mary Burkholder is identified in 1801 in estate papers for her father, Abraham Burkholder, as the wife of Michael Myers of Conestoga.[1] They were the parents of seven children :

  1. Samuel[2][3]
  2. Ann m. Jacob Nissley or Lichty[2]
  3. Mary m. Christian Thomas[2]
  4. Nathaniel (moved to Oregon County)[2][3]
  5. Rudolph (drowned in the Susquehanna River)[2][3]
  6. Socrates[2][3]
  7. Margaret m. Benjamin Shenk[2][3]

Michael died before 1810, (when he is identified in his mother's will as being deceased).[4] Mary's death date has not been confirmed.

Notes

According to Lancaster County Deeds Book MM p. 224, she was still underage at the time of an indenture between Abraham Burkholder's other heirs dated May 2, 1777, so she was born in 1756 or later, though probably not much later as she was married by around 1780 to Michael Meyer.
