Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1824 to Daniel Burkholder and Barbara Grove. She passed away in 1892.

Died of sudden apoplexy, Dunn Twp., Haldimand Co., ON, aged 67yrs, 9mo.

"Their [Jacob and Maria's] son Daniel preceded them [to Upper Canada], selling his fine Pennsylvania-bred horse for land ... [he] was married to Barbara Groff; their family was Elizabeth (Gehman), Mary (Wideman), Veronica (Sherk), Abraham, who married first Catherine Wideman, and then Elizabeth Reesor, Susanna (Wideman), Barbara, 1834-1924 (Shaffer), Samuel, b. 1835, Solomon, b. 1838, Christina (Brillinger), Esther, b. 1841 (Dilman Wideman). Lewis J. Burkholder, author of A Brief History of the Mennonites in Ontario, was a son of the above Abraham." ^[1]
