Joseph Burkinshaw was born in 1831. He was the son of John and Hannah Burkinshaw. He was christened on 27 November 1831 at Silkstone, Yorkshire[1].
Joseph died in 1838 aged 7 years old[2]. He was a victim of the Huskar Colliery disaster. His older brother, 11 year old George Burkinshaw, died in the same disaster.[3] He was buried on 7 July 1838 at All Saints Church, Silkstone, Yorkshire with the other children who died on the same day[4].
