George was born in 1843. He was the son of William Burman and Elizabeth Hopkin.
In 1851 he lived with his family at Squire's Place, Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales[1]and in 1861 at 3 Treway Court, Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales as a sugar maker.[2]
In 1864 he married Mary Finnimore.[3] The certificate states he was a bachelor of full age living at Mysgdd Street as a labourer. His father was William Burman, pilot and the witnesses were Robert Burman and Mary Burman.[4]
Between 1867 and 1898 he worked for Great Western Railway and became an engine driver. He resigned due to ill health and was given £100 by the company due to permanent disablement.[5]
In 1871 he lived with his family at 22 Vernon Street, Swansea, Wales as a stoker[6] and in 1881 he lived at 25 Sanquhar Street, Roath, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales as an engine driver.[7] In 1891 he lived at 18 Dun? Street, Aberkenfig, Newcastle Higher, Glamorgan, Wales as locomotive engine driver.[8] By 1901 he was retired from Great Western Railway and receiving a pension living at 16 Riverside, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales as a widow[9]
In 1911 he lived with his daughter Annie and her husband at 14 Gordon Road, Swindon, Wiltshire as a retired engine driver and widow.[10]
He passed away in 1917.[11]
