James was born in 1832. He was baptised on 11th November 1832 at St Mary the Virgin, Dedham, Essex as the son of James Moffat Burman and Elizabeth Unknown.[1]
In 1851 he lived with his father at 16 Berwick Street, Westminster, London as a grocer.[2]
In 1856 he married Alice Kendall.[3] The certificate states he was a bachelor of full age living in Lambeth as a grocer. His father was James Moffatt Burman, grocer, and the witnesses were James Moffat Burman and Charlotte Burman.[4]
In 1871 he lived with his wife at 7 Claude Road, Peckham, Camberwell, Surrey as an insurance clerk[5] and in 1881 at 3 Grovesnor Cottages, Albert Road, West Ham, Essex as an insurance agent.[6] Between 1891 and 1901 he lived with his wife at 11 Albert Road, West Ham, Essex as a rent collector.[7][8]
He passed away in 1906.[9] The probate dated 23rd February 1907 records an address of 22 Selby Road, Leytonstone, Essex and effects of £166 3s 9d to James Edward Burman, insurance agent.[10]
