Washington was born in 1837. He was the son of John Burman and Maria Bray.
In 1851 he was an orphan and an inmate at the Louth Union Workhouse, Louth, Lincolnshire.[1]
In 1858 he married Hannah Barnes. The record states he was a sergeant in the 2nd Battalion 3rd Regiment 'The Buffs'.[2][3]
In 1871 he lived with his wife at 75 Walkergate, Louth, Lincolnshire as a grocer and house painter[4] and in 1881 at 43 Kidgate, Louth, Lincolnshire as a painter.[5] In 1891 he lived with his wife at 25 Enginegate, Louth, Lincolnshire[6] as a housepainter and in 1901 at 37 Ramsgate, Louth, Lincolnshire as a railway timekeeper.[7]
He passed away in 1903.[8]
