John was born about 1808. He was baptised on 21st January 1808 at Tanworth, Warwickshire as the son of Insull Burman and Mary Baylies.[1]
In 1820 he received a legacy from his grandfather's will of £100.[2]
In 1834 he married Mary Ann Woolfe. The record states he was a bachelor from St Martin's, Birmingham and the witnesses were Robert B Latter and Catherine Woolfe.[3] The marriage was announced in the Birmingham Gazette which reads MARRIED. - on Tuesday, at Lea Marston, Mr. John Burman, draper, of this town, to Mary Ann, youngest daughter of the late Mr. J. Woolfe, of the former place.[4][5]
In 1837 he was declared bankrupt which reads John Burman, Birmingham, Linen Draper, June 20 1837[6]
In 1851 he lived with his wife at 18 Ravenhurst Street, Deritend and Bordesley, Warwickshire as a corn agent.[7] In 1861 he lived with his wife at 4 Stratford Street, Aston, Warwickshire as a paper dealer.[8] In 1871 he lived with his wife at 7 Stratford Street, Aston, Warwickshire as a retired draper[9] and in 1881 at Forest Road, Kings Norton, Worcestershire as a retired draper.[10]
