Catherine was born in 1836. She was baptised on 12 January 1837 at St Martin, Birmingham, Warwickshire as the daughter of John Burman and Mary Ann Woolfe.[1]
In 1841 she lived with her mother at Highgate, Aston, Warwickshire, England [2] and in 1851 she lived with her parents at 18 Ravenhurst Street, Deritend and Bordesley, Warwickshire, England.[3]
In 1859 she married George Walker. The certificate records that she was a spinster aged 22 living in Bordesley. Her father was John Burman, paperdealer, and the witnesses were Thomas Clark and Louise Sarah Potter.[4] The marriage was announced in the Birmingham Daily Post which reads MARRIED. On the 23rd inst., at Aston Church (by the Rev. J.B.Podmore) Mr. George Walker, chemist, of Park Street, Walsall, to Jane Catherine, only daughter of Mr. John Burman, of Camp Hill, near this town.[5]
In 1861 she lived with her parents at 4 Stratford Street, Aston, Warwickshire, England[6] and in 1871 she lived with her husband at 10 Hamilton Place, Crook Street, Chester, Cheshire, England.[7] In 1881 she was a widow living with her children at 94 Long Street, Aston, Warwickshire, England as a school mistress[8] and in 1891 she lived at 394 Ladypool Road, Kings Norton, Worcester, England living on her own means.[9] In 1901 she was a housekeeper at 32 Castle Avenue, Walthamstow, Essex, England[10] and in 1911 she lived with her daughter Alice and son-in-law at 221 Hainault Road, Leytonstone, Essex, England[11]
