Biography

1776 Project
Abraham Burner served with Virginia Line during the American Revolution.

Abraham Burner was born on August 15, 1757 in the colony of Virginia. He was the son of Erhart Burner. (See research note below regarding his mother.) Abraham was married to Mary Magdalena Hull. Abraham died on June 18, 1827 in Bartow, Pocahontas County, West Virginia.

The following biography is copied from the "West Virginians in the American Revolution" compiled by Ross B Johnston, Surnames A-B, p39:

Burner, Abraham. Service: Virginia. Va No 898. No. W-24693
Born, Shenandoah County, Virginia, about 1753, son of Earnhart Burner. Died, June 28, 1827. Enlisted, January, 1777 and February or March, 1778, and served two years as private under Captains Mathias Hite and Rinker, Eighth Virginia Regiment, Continental Establishment commanded by Colonel Bowman.
Married, Mary Magalene Hull, June 5 1780, Pendleton County Cirginia. They had seven sons and two daughters. Soldier applied for pension, October 25, 1819, Randolph County, Virginia. Certificate issued, November 27, 1819. Widow applied for pension, June 3, 1839, and certificate was issued February 20, 1840. She was born in Pendleton County, Virginia, about 1763 and died January 18, 1840, before the pension in her favor had been granted, so it was paid to four living children.
Among persons making supporting affidavits were Henry Burner, brother of soldier, Adam Arbogast, and John Slaven.

Research notes

There are no sunames of Vomebmar, (the surname listed for his mother), on Find a Grave. When I googled it as a surname I got nothing. I think Abraham was the full brother to his other siblings.
