Research Notes

There is only ONE proven child for Jesse Burnett and that is Frederick Thomas Burnett. YDNA has proven that Peter Clayborn Burnett and Joseph Burnett are NOT descendants of Jesse Burnett. See PDF This line has an active surname project at ftdna Family tree DNA Rutherford County NC Burnetts There is an ancestry tree for this line with only primary source data along with ydna testing results. The link is below We are actively looking for males with the surnames below to ydna test at Family Tree DNA to prove the relationships of these lines. If you are interested in testing let me know. Paperwork will only take the lines back so far ydna testing can take the lines much farther back.

Jesse did not serve in the Henry County VA Militia. It is believed that Jesse Burnett was in Buckingham County VA before moving to Henry County VA and is from a completely different YDNA line.

It has been proven with information from the Draper papers held at the University of Wisconsin with copies microfilmed held at the Allen County Library in Ft Wayne Indiana that all three brothers Thomas, Jesse and Joseph were loyalists during the war.

It's almost certain Jesse Burnett is buried in the Old Mt View Baptist Chruch Cemetery. The old cemetery is at the bottom of the Asheville water shed. This is probably where his spouse is buried also.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jesse by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jesse:
