Biography

Margaret Burns[1] was probably about about 1735, her husband was born in 1726 and they were married in 1761.

She married Amaziah Davisson, son of Josiah Davison and Mary (Skelton) Davisson, about 1761.[1]

Margaret died on 20 Sep. 1848 at Haverhill, Scioto County, Ohio and was buried at Gilruth-Davisson Cemetery, Greenup, Lawrence County, Ohio. Her memorial has a photo of her headstone and links to those of family members. [1]

Research Notes

Based on the gravestone picture on Find-A-Grave, this individual could not have been born in 1735. Gravestone states that she was 65 years old at day of death. If the death date of 1848 is correct, there is no way that the 1735 date is correct. If the death date is correct Margaret is more likely to have been married to the Amaziah that is linked as her son. Due to this being unlikely I have removed the date of death from the data fields. Additional thoughts - Since the gravestone does not give the date of death, it is possible that she died as early as 1811. There is evidence to support 1761 as the date of marriage. Her age at marriage would likely be between 15 and 20. That would put her birth year between 1736 and 1741. Based on date of marriage and her age at her death, the year given as her death in Find A Grave is probably an error.
