Ross was born in 1883. He is the son of Nimrod Burns and Annie Bolon. Ross passed away in 1907 and was laid to rest at West Cedar Valley Cemetery in Elgin, Nebraska.

Ross Dallas Burns had just completed his degree to become a physician when he was killed by a streetcar as he crossed the street. Leaving his proud family and fiancee, Bessie Carpenter, to grieve.
