Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
As well I wanted a different venue, so I could pass along a tree to my niece and great nephew from my husband's side, where they had no one saving records. I have the online record links for the first few gens established, but we are working in Metis lines, where early loss of life, family upheaval and accompanying 'unofficial' name changes mean the blended family information takes a lot of work to get straight. That is a particular focus area for me which just means it is slow work. I just spent the last number of days in Census and Scrip records establishing the proof of adoption and surname change for the 1/2 brothers to my husband's great grandmother, one being the man that eventually raised his grandfather.
I'm enjoying the manner in which Wikitree is set up, and really have an appreciation for the attempt to not duplicate individuals.

When profiles are work in progress you can use the 'research notes' heading and place all information, hypotheses or thoughts below that heading. When a profile has doubtful existence, I personally refrain from adding the profile, but when I want input I add all information I have and ask for help.
There is a bare minimum though: at least one source, one date and one location on the earth is really what we need to keep profiles apart. You will find that others start adding information if there is the option to do so.
Keep up the good work and do not hesitate to ask!
Michel
I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.
It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.
Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.
Happy tree climbing
