Biography

Birth & Baptism
Rose Agnes Burns was born to Patrick Byrnes/Burns and Jane McCarthy? about 1864 in Jackson, Washington, Wisconsin, USA. She was baptized Roman Catholic. [1] [2]

Marriage
Rose married Edward Joseph Boyd on January 4, 1888 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rapid City, South Dakota.[3] St. Mary's Church was established in 1881, but its current building was not started until 1909. In 1962 it was replaced by Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. [4]

Rose was ethnically Irish. Her parents were born in Ireland, [2] but not much of certainty is known about them at this time. She was a member of the Cead-mille-failthe club in June 5, 1896 when she received 1st prize, a silver jewelry box, for winning some games they put on. [6]

Rose kept house for her brother while she lived with him (1880)[2]

Death & Burial
Rose passed away from pneumonia on December 23, 1900 in Rapid City, South Dakota. It was a shock to her family and friends, as she had been sick only two days and was not perceived to be seriously ill until the morning of her death.

Her funeral was held on December 24, 1900, conducted by Rev. Fr. Straeten at the Catholic church of which she was a member. She was buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City, South Dakota, USA. The inscription reads: Mrs. Ed Boyd [7]
