Biography

William Henry Burns was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, on July 30th, 1888 and his parents names were John and Mary (Doran) Burns. [1] [2]

William's father, John Campbell Burns, was born in New Brunswick. [3] [4] [5] [6] William's mother, Mary Ann Doran, was born in Malta, although her parents were both born in Ireland. [7] [8] [9]

William had 5 younger sisters, the first being born while the family was living on Pitt Street in Saint John.:

The family moved from Canada to Los Angelas, California between 1901 and 1920, where William was a "photographer", and later an "assistant camera operator" for Goldwyn Studios around the time of the filming of the silent movie Ben-Hur was occurring. [19] [20]

I was always told my grandfather was a "cameraman" on the movie, but if he played any role, there does not seem to be any evidence I can find. See [1] crew verified as complete, no sign of Burns

William married Agnes Virginia Robertson on December 1, 1923 in Los Angelas, as witnessed by her two sisters Madeline and Lucille. [21]

I have a copy of my fathers' birth certificate, where it shows he was born with his twin brother James at the Hollywood Hospital in L.A. in 1925. Sometime after that, but before 1930, the family moved to Arlington Massachusetts where William worked at an Automotive company. [22] [23]
