Samuel was born in about 1818. He is the son of John Burns and his wife Ann. In 1850 he is enumerated on the federal census in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. [1] Samuel is identified on the 1850 census as a Planter. He is a slave owner. In 1860 Samuel is enumerated on the federal census in Jefferson County, Arkansas. [2]
