Jacob Cayton Burns was born about 1807 in Campbell County, Kentucky, United States, son of Thomas Burns (~1773–1856) and Catherine Cayton (~1787–<1840). Jacob Burns married Sarah Lane on 25 Jul 1828 in , Gallatin, Kentucky, United States.[1] Jacob (49) married Rebecca Long (22) (born about 1834 in Indiana, USA; daughter of Louisa (Unknown) Moore) on October 7, 1857 in Mississippi County, Missouri. Their son was William Henry Burns (1863–1897). In the 1850 census Jacob Burnes (age 43) was in Gallatin, Kentucky, United States.[2] J C Burns's daughter Matilda Ann Burns married James H Young on 30 Jul 1851 in Gallatin, Kentucky, United States.[3] In the 1870 census J C Barnes (age 60) was the head of household in Ohio Township, Mississippi, Missouri, United States.[4] Jacob Cayton Burns died on 10 Feb 1872 and was buried in 1872.[5]
