Nola Joyce Burns was born on 5 June 1914 in Nelson, New Zealand .her father, Gavin, was 38, and her mother, Florrie, was 33. She married Hector Roderick Murray on 10 November 1938 in New Zealand. They had two children during their marriage. She died on 1 January 1990 in Wanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui, at the age of 75, and was buried in Whanganui, NZ
