Mrs. Iva Dee Montague, 89, of Greenville passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 27. She was born in Montgomery County on June 21, 1928, to Lycurgus Winchester and Bettie Jean Jones Burns. She was a retired secretary for Freedman Steel and a member of Grace Methodist Church in Greenville. Mrs. Montague was also a member and past president of the Washington County Horse Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard L. Montague; and her son, Ronald L. Montague.
Mrs. Montague is survived by two sons, Loyd T. Montague of Valdosta, Georgia, and Richard I. Montague of Greenville; a brother, Bill Burns of Greenville; six grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Montague will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Old Plank Cemetery near Vaiden. Rev. Brad Herod will officiate. A visitation will be held on Thursday, from noon until service time, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Montague, Curtis Montague, Ronnie Montague, Mark Montague, Darrell Martinique, and Billy Burns.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Plank Cemetery Fund.
