Joseph was born in Horsham Sussex in 1872. He is the son of Joseph Burrage and Emma Ellis. Joseph was christened on 28 June 1872 in Horsham.
Joseph worked as a postman.
In 1905, Joseph married Ada Mary Hard in Horsham, and at the time of the 1911 census, they had no children. We could locate no evidence of children born after that date.
Joseph passed away at 14 Chapelhay Street in Weymouth, Dorset on 25 September 1919 at about age 47.
