Biography
Mildred was the daughter of George Burrell and Susan Jones.[1] Her paternal and maternal ancestry have been confirmed with DNA.
Her first child was fathered by an unknown man. During her pregnancy, the man's friend, Joseph St. Onge, offered to marry her.[2] The first son, though not Joseph's, was named after him.
Mildred then had 2 daughters (Mary and Gertrude) and 2 sons (William and Frank) by Joseph. He abandoned the family with her first 5 children around 1925.
She was briefly involved with a Feola (probably Pasquale based upon DNA evidence and their location/proximity). This involvement resulted in her sixth pregnancy.
She then became involved with Herbert Haley and named her son after him. However, DNA has disproven him as Herbert Haley, Jr.'s father and proven his father was a Feola.
Mildred had a seventh child, possibly by Herbert Haley, Sr., born in 1927. She eventually married Herbert in 1929.
Most of Mildred's children were raised by other people, not her.
Mildred is buried at Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.[3]
Notes
She resided in Abington most of her life (found in 1916 and 1930 directories).
