Lincoln's History of the Town of Hingham, Massachusetts (The Town of Hingham, Massachusetts, 1893) notes that Joseph's wife was Mary, possibly Mary Bates, but there is not documentation to confirm this. A Mary Bate married Ephriam Burrell in Weymouth some time after intention to marry recorded 7 Mar 1713.
