From his obituary, Mitchell Tribune, Mitchell, Indiana, Thu, 22 Apr 1926 - https://www.newspapers.com/article/mitchell-tribune/133824839/
The neighborhood of Alfordsville lost a respected citizen in the death of Alfred A. Burris at the age of fifty-eight years. This widely known and estimable man died Tuesday morning, April 13, at 3: 30 o'clock after a long illness. Death came at his home near Alfordsville, where he had passed practically all his life. The deceased man was a son of Seth C. and Mary J. Burris and was the fifth child of a family of seven children, five of whom are living. The surviving brothers and sisters are Levi, of Puxico, Missouri, Mrs. Wayne Gilley and Will of Mitchell and Minnie and Grant of Alfordsville.
Mr. Burris married Effie Lillian Chandler March 23, 1893. To this union seven children were born, Mabel, Grace, Bertha, Mary, Curtis, Lester and Clarence, all of whom are left to mourn the departure of an affectionate and devoted father. The widow and one grandchild, Lula Mae Hardy, also are bereft by his passing. Mr. Burris became a christian at an early age and took an active part in religious activities throughout his life. His death creates a void in the community in which he lived that will be hard to fill - Washington Herald.
