For his service John Burris received 160 acres on a branch of the Roanoak River, Botetourt County. John and Esther sold this land in 1771 and moved to Guilford County, N.C. and joined the Quaker faith. The Commonwealth of Virginia was quite generous in giving land for service in the French and Indian War. In the same county George Washington, Esq., received over 10,000 acres for his service. This information supplied by John W. Burris .

Information from Roy Archer of San Diego, an adopted Burris of the Daniel line shows different dates on marriage, death etc.. Spelling of wife's last name Terriy. Place of birth may explain how he had property in Botetourt Co. which was sold while they were in Surry Co., NC. possibly after his fathers death.
Some records indicate that John's burial location is in Highland county, Ohio but a grave marker is located at the Boxley cemetery in Boxley, Indiana. The original stone is missing and a recently placed Revolutionary War marker is in its place. The precise location of the grave is also in question since the original stone was located in a farmers basement. The original cemetery's markers had been removed to add acreage to the farm and then plowed and planted.
