James is believed to be a child of Stephen Burritt and Sarah Nichols, however this relationship is entirely circumstantial. [1] The estimated birth of 1696 is offered by Burritt without much justification. [2] If James is in fact the son of Stephen Burritt it is reasonable to guess that he was born at or near Stratford.
James had a wife by the name of Sarah, surname unknown and is suspected to have had another wife. [3]
