Daughters of the American Revolution
Benjamin Burroughs is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A019060.

Benjamin Burroughs was born reportedly on 20 July 1764, the son of Benjamin Burroughs and Mary Van Horn. The exact date comes from an application to the Sons of the American Revolution,[1] but it fits with his headstone, which says he died 14 March 1826 in the 62nd year of his age (i.e., 61 years old in the modern style of recording).[2]

Benjamin enlisted in the Salem County Militia on 10 September 1775, when he would have been 11.[1] He was recorded as a private in Captain Jacob Dubois's company of the New Jersey Militia for Salem County, and then as a private in Captain Israel Nard's company of the militia for Morris County.

He married Judith Lummis in 1784. He is mentioned in his father's will, dated 1799 (see the father's profile).

Benjamin died in 1826 and was buried at the graveyard at the Pittsgrove Presbyterian Church.[2]

Benjamin's will is dated January 6, 1826[3]. It mentions

son James
daughter Hannah Burroughs
executor son Cornelius

Also mentions other property to be divided among his children, but it is not clear how many there were.

Burroughs-1146 and Burroughs-1125 appear to represent the same person because: Same death date, same approximate birth date, both in Salem, New Jersey.
