As far as I can tell, James Burroughs was the name of the plantation owner who enslaved Jane, and not her husband. Although... it was not uncommon for enslavers to rape their female slaves, so there may have been a Burroughs father. We know that Booker T. Washington's father was a white man from a neighboring plantation. Wikipedia, Early Life for the lazy quick-read; decent citations to drill down. I am removing the marriage link for now, but keeping the comment here with a link to Jane in case anyone encounters a source to confirm the marriage.
