Samuel Burroughs Jr. married Susan (or Susannah) J. Holt. The 1881 Bliss genealogy says that Mary P. Burroughs, who was born at Alstead, New Hampshire, on 13 Apr 1836, and who married Dr. Frederick Bliss was the daoughter of Samuel and Susan (Holt) Burroughs of Alstead.[1]
Samuel Burroughs Jr. married Sarah Ellis, at Bellows Falls, Vemont, on 11 Nov 1843.[3] Their first child, Samuel Ellis Burroughs, was born on 19 Oct 1844.[4]
In 1850, Samuel Burroughs Jr., 46, farmer, born in New Hampshire, was living at Alstead, New Hampshire, with Sarah H. Burroughs, 26, born in Maine, and Mary Burroughs, 14, Amanda Burroughs, 12, Susan Burroughs, 7, Samuel E. Burroughs, 5, Edward S. Burroughs, 3, and Stephen Burroughs, 1, all born in New Hampshire, and Patrick McMurphy, 26, laborer, born in Ireland.[5]
In 1860, Samuel Burroughs, 55, farmer, and Sarah Burroughs, 33, were living at Alstead with Susan Burroughs, 17, Walter Burroughs, 11, Flora Burroughs, 8, Harriet Burroughs, 5, and Nellie Burroughs, 3.[6]

Mack, and Susan A. Wood; his sons Samuel E. Burroughs, Edward S. Burroughs, and Stephen W. Burroughs; his daughters Flora R. Burroughs, Harriet L. Burroughs, and Nellie R. Burroughs; and his son, William E. Burroughs.[7]
Death
The gravestone of Samuel Burroughs Jr. at the Maple Side Cemetery in Alstead, New Hampshire, is inscribed with the dates 1803-1866.[4]
