Biography

Mason Emmett Burton was born in 1867 in Kentucky. He was the son of William H. Burton and Arminta "Mintie" Brown and he is listed in his mother's household with four of his siblings on the 1870 Census in Rockcastle, Kentucky.^[1]

On December 20, 1888 he married Sallie E. Broyles in Pulaski, Kentucky.^[2] The couple is listed together on the following census reports:

• 1900 Census ^[3] (with four children listed)
• 1910 Census ^[4] (with seven children listed)
• 1920 Census ^[5] (with five children still in their household)

Based on the information provided in the census reports; Mason and Sallie had eight children before his death in 1923 and her death in 1924. He passed away in October of 1923 at the age of 56 and is buried in Burnett Chapel Cemetery in Plato, Pulaski County, Kentucky.^[6]
