When Harry was just a baby he travelled with his father and mother to the United States. It is there 6 month old Harry is enumerated in the household of his grandparents Albert (52) and Sarah Burwell (45) in the US Census of 1860 at Chelsea, Suffolk, Massachusetts, along with his father Albert (27) and mother Lilly (27), his uncles Augustus (25), Isaac (10) and Edward (6) Burwell, and his aunt Emma Burwell (19). Also in the household was one servant, 16 year old Delia Oliver.
By the Census of 1861 he was back in England:
England and Wales Census, 1861: Recorded in the household of his grandparents Henry (63) and Sarah Rea (57) in Waterloo Road, Liverpool, Lancashire, England. Aged 1. Also in the household were his unmarried aunts Sarah Rea (23) and Hannah Rea (18), and two servants.
Tragically Harry passed away in 1863 on board the ship Brennan (recorded in his father's diary) on the passage from Bremerhaven, Germany to Southampton, England, after contracting scarlet fever. He was just 3 years of age (his sister Sarah "Sissy" died soon after, also from scarlet fever).
DEATHS.
BURWELL.- Oct. 12, on board the screw-steamer New York, during her passage from Bremen to Southampton, in his 4th year, Henry Augustus, only son of Mr. Albert H. Burwell, of Chelsea, Massachusetts, U.S.A.[4]
He was buried on 16 October 1863 at St James Garden Cemetery, Liverpool, Metropolitan Borough of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. Grave 945C[5][6]
