Biography

Gladys Ruth Busby Waltmann

Mrs. Gladys Ruth Busby Waltmann, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 10th, 2011 in Lake City Community Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Waltmann was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on August 28th, 1929. She was a daughter of the late John Milton Busby, Sr. and the late Willie Mae Dill Busby, and was the widow of the late Jack C. Waltmann of Lake City. Mrs. Waltmann was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church. She was a substitute teacher and active volunteer at Lake City Primary for many years. Mrs. Waltmann loved her family - especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking care of them, cooking, and working in her yard in her spare time. Mrs. Waltmann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Waltmann's surviving family includes her four children, Dr. Brian K. Waltmann, of Atlanta, Georgia, Celeste W. Altman (Marshall), of Lake City, Todd B. Waltmann, of High Point, North Carolina, and Scott R. Waltmann (Violet), of New York, New York; her five grandchildren, Meaghan Waltmann, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Taylor Altman, Caitlin Altman, Collin Altman, and Jackson Altman, all of Lake City; her brother, William Busby, of Wilmington, North Carolina; her sister, Dorothy Wainright, of Houston, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews of Houston, New Orleans, and Wilmington. Mrs. Waltmann is preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Inez Matthews, of New Orleans, Louisiana; and her brother, John Milton Busby, Jr., of New Orleans, Louisiana. Graveside services for Mrs. Waltmann will be held at two o'clock p.m., today, Sunday, March 13th, 2011 in the Lake City Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
