Biography

Louisa Eliza was born about 1840 in Alabama. She was the daughter of William Busbee and Elizabeth Key.

In 1850 she was living in Walker, Alabama.[1] The census is difficult to read and the family may have been indexed as Bustin, Bu?tia, or Busby. The household included William 48, Elizabeth 47, Elizabeth 21, William 20, Husten 17, Carline 14, Marten 12, Luiza 10, Tibs 9, Milenday 9, Maradeth 5, Maryan 3 and Joshua 2. All were born in Alabama. William, William and Husten were farmers.

Abraham Daniel Stevens and Louisa Eliza Busby were probably married about 1858.

In 1860 she was living in Woods Precinct, Jefferson, Alabama.[2] The household included A D Stevens 22, Eliza Stevens 20 and John A Stevens 1. A. D. was a farmer. Neighbors included P.H. Youngblood and Adam J Stevens.

In 1870 she was living in Justice Precinct 2, Tarrant, Texas.[3] The household included A D Stephens 31, L Stephens 30, and N J Stephens 9. Abraham was a farmer. P.H. Youngblood lived next door.

In 1880 she was living in Precinct 3, Hamilton, Texas.[4] The household included A D Stevens 42, wife L E Sevens 41, daughter Nancy J Stevens 18, daughter Julia Stevens 8, son William D Stevens 6, son J Milton Stevens 4 and son Richard T Stevens 4 months. Abraham was a farmer.

She died before 1900; she is not found in the census nor in any death records.

Research Notes

She was the daughter of William Busby and Elizabeth Key.

The grave memorial for Louisa Elizabeth Caroline Buzbee Stevens conflates Louisa Elizabeth with her sister Elizabeth Caroline, who was the second wife of Abraham Stevens, Louisa's father-in-law.[5]
