Biography
Catherine (or Katherine) Busby was baptized 6 Aug 1615 at St. Mary Coslany, Norwich, Norfolk, England.
She is not on the list of family with her parents Nicholas and Bridget Busby and their children, in The Planters of the Commonwealth in Massachusetts, 1620-1640, by Charles Edward Banks, page 184.
Her mother Bridget, widow of Nicholas Busby on 2 July 1660, mentions in a deed her daughter Katherine, wife of William Savery of Norwich England.[1]
Alfred William Savary, in his study of the name in America, remarks on it appearing in the Barbadoes soon after appearing in New England (circa 1635). He mentions Quakers among the Barbadoes and American Savary families. The Busby family were Puritans, and so were leaning in the direction of the Quakers.
Research Notes
William Savory of Plymouth could be a possibility for the William who married Catherine Busby.
A William Savory, 25, was among the passengers of the ship Globe of London, to Virginia in 1635, another possibility for the husband of Catherine Busby.[2]
