Vannevar Bush was born on 11 Mar 1890 in Everett, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. He was the only son of Richard Perry Bush (1855–about 1926) and Emma Linwood Paine (1860–1947). He had 2 older sisters.
Vannevar Bush appeared living with his parents & 2 sisters on the 1900[3] and 1910 US Census reports.[4]

He married Phoebe C. Davis (1892-1969) on 19 Aug 1916. His parents were R. Perry Bush and Emma L. Paine. Hers were William H Paine and Jennie Rogers.[5] The 1920 census shows them with a son.[6]
In 1930 they have a second son and Phoebe's parents are living with them.[7]
In 1940 they are living with their 2 sons and a niece. [8]

He was head of MIT 1919- 1938, President of the Carnegie Institute and headed the Office of Scientific Research and Development and National Defense Research Committee, which administered the Manhattan Project, developing the Atomic Bomb, in WW II.
Vannevar Bush authored several publications, but one which stands out as influential was As We May Think which contributed to modern thought on information.[9]
He died on 28 June 1974 [10] and is buried in South Dennis Cemetery, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, USA.[11]
