Jabez Henry Buss was born on 27 October 1854 in Brightling, Sussex, England ,his father, Henry, was 19 and his mother, Esther, was 19. He married Adelaide Keturah Pocock on 28 July 1877 in Crowhurst, Surrey. They had four children during their marriage. He died in May 1946 in Surrey at the age of 91, and was buried in Epsom, Surrey England.
